Draft 0.1.0VAT period close for bookkeeping clients
Before each VAT period is due, bring in the client's documents, find what is missing or unclear, ask the client for it through the accountant, check the period and prepare the draft VAT return for the accountant to review. The agent prepares; the accountant accepts documents, approves the return and files it.
LedgerVault
What starts it
- On a schedule: start period close
- On a schedule: chase open items
- In the client's system: period closed in accounting
- When someone asks, e.g. “Where are we with Q3 for Al Noor Trading?”
What the agent does
- See where the client stands
- Bring documents in
- Find what is open
- Check the period
- Prepare the draft return
- Chase
What stays with a person
- Accepting documents into the books (one by one or in bulk) and correcting line items
- Deciding a document's ledger, tax period or tax code where Ledger left it open
- Sending questions or document requests to the client
- Moving the return to review, approving it, and marking it filed (this locks the period)
- Submitting the return to the FTA
What it never does
- Accept, correct or recode a document, even when asked
- Approve or file a return, or say a return is ready to file before the accountant approves it
- Contact the client directly; questions go to the accountant to send
- Use a tax rate, threshold or due date from anywhere but an Arakan tool or the client's record
- Change anything in a period that is already filed
